The BAR – SRE Flat is a stainless steel flat bar available in thicknesses ranging from 3mm through to 8mm, supplied in 4-metre lengths with a 2B mill finish. The 2B finish, produced through a cold rolling and annealing process followed by a light skin pass, delivers a smooth, matte-reflective surface that is clean, consistent, and well-suited to both functional fabrication and applications where a refined surface appearance is desirable without the additional cost of a polished or brushed finish.
The flat bar profile features two broad, flat faces and two narrow edges, presenting a rectangular cross-section that is immediately practical across a wide range of structural, fabrication, and architectural applications. The flat faces provide excellent bearing and welding surfaces, while the consistent width and thickness tolerances ensure predictable, repeatable performance in machining, cutting, and bending operations.
Width options span from a narrow 12mm through to a generous 200mm, with the most comprehensive size availability concentrated in the 3mm and 6mm thickness ranges. Commonly stocked widths including 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm are available across multiple thicknesses, giving fabricators and engineers broad flexibility to select the most appropriate section for their load, clearance, and weight requirements. Wider widths of 150mm and 200mm are available in selected thicknesses for applications requiring a greater bearing face or cover width.
The 2B surface finish makes this flat bar well-suited to structural framing, brackets, supports, shelf reinforcement, edging, and general-purpose fabrication where the material will be welded, bolted, or mechanically fixed into the finished assembly. The smooth surface also responds well to further finishing operations, including polishing, brushing, or painting, should the application require an upgraded surface appearance.
