The Bar – Square is a solid stainless steel square bar produced by cold drawing and polishing, supplied in 4-metre lengths across a well-considered range of cross-sectional sizes. Available in both Grade 304 and Grade 316 stainless steel, sizes span from 6mm through to 50mm, with the 316 grade offering an additional 6mm size not available in 304, and both grades sharing a closely matched size range from 8mm upward.

The cold-drawn and polished manufacturing process gives this square bar its defining quality characteristics. Cold drawing pulls the bar through a shaped die at room temperature, refining the steel’s grain structure, increasing tensile strength and surface hardness relative to hot-rolled alternatives, and producing a bar with precise dimensional tolerances and sharp, well-defined corners. The polishing step following the draw further refines the four flat faces, delivering a smooth, bright surface that is consistent across all faces and edges. The result is a square bar that is dimensionally accurate, visually clean, and ready for direct use in machining, fabrication, and engineering applications.
The four flat faces of the cold-drawn square bar are a key practical advantage over round bar in many applications. Each face provides a natural, flat reference and bearing surface that simplifies measurement, clamping, welding, drilling, and mechanical fixing operations, where the flat geometry of the square bar offers a significant practical advantage over a cylindrical profile. The crisp, well-defined corners produced by the cold draw process also contribute to the clean, precise appearance of finished components machined or fabricated from this material.

Grade 304 is available from 8mm through to 50mm, covering the majority of general engineering, architectural, and fabrication applications. Grade 316, available from 6mm through to 50mm, provides the enhanced molybdenum-alloyed corrosion resistance required for marine, coastal, food processing, pharmaceutical, and chemical environments where chloride-induced pitting or crevice corrosion would compromise the performance and longevity of standard 304 grade material.

Sizes including 31.8mm and 38.1mm reflect the inclusion of imperial-equivalent dimensions alongside metric sizes, ensuring compatibility with legacy machinery, tooling, and component replacement requirements. Supplied in 4-metre lengths, this square bar is straightforward to cut, machine, and finish in workshop environments, delivering consistent quality and dimensional reliability across the full size range.
