The BSP Barrel Union is a precision-engineered pipe union fitting designed to provide a secure, easily disconnectable connection between two pipe sections in BSP threaded piping systems. Manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel, this barrel union delivers outstanding corrosion resistance, reliable sealing performance, and long-lasting durability, making it a dependable pipe joining solution across a wide range of industrial, marine, chemical, and general process piping applications.
As clearly visible in the product image, the barrel union presents a compact, multi-component body comprising two threaded end pieces and a central connecting nut. Each end piece features an internally BSP threaded bore for connection to the corresponding male threaded pipe or fitting on either side of the union. The central hexagonal nut, clearly visible in the image with its defined flat engagement surfaces, draws the two end pieces together when tightened, compressing the internal sealing interface between the mating faces to create a secure and leak-free connection. The overall form is compact and symmetrical, reflecting the practical and functional design of the barrel union for straightforward inline pipe joining and disconnection.
The barrel union is particularly valued in piping systems where sections of pipework need to be regularly disconnected for maintenance, inspection, or replacement, as the union allows the pipe connection to be broken and remade without disturbing the surrounding pipework or requiring pipe cutting.
The BSP Barrel Union is available across a comprehensive range of thirteen nominal bore sizes from NB6 (1/8 inch) through to NB100 (4 inch) covering the full spectrum of standard BSP pipe sizes commonly used across industrial, process, and general plumbing installations.
316-grade stainless steel ensures superior resistance to corrosion, pitting, and chemical attack, making this barrel union an excellent specification choice for demanding environments including marine, coastal, chemical processing, and offshore applications where long-term material integrity is essential.
