The BSP Y Strainer is a precision-engineered inline pipeline strainer designed to filter and remove solid particles, debris, and contaminants from fluid flowing through a BSP threaded piping system, protecting downstream equipment such as pumps, valves, meters, and process instrumentation from damage or blockage caused by particulate matter. Manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel, this Y strainer delivers outstanding corrosion resistance, reliable filtration performance, and long-lasting structural integrity, making it a dependable fluid protection component across a wide range of industrial, marine, chemical, and general process piping applications.
As clearly visible in the product image, the Y strainer presents a distinctive Y-shaped body profile that gives the fitting its name. The main inline body features female BSP threaded ports at both ends of the horizontal flow axis, allowing the strainer to be installed directly into an existing BSP threaded pipeline run. The angled strainer leg, which branches downward from the main body at an angle consistent with the characteristic Y-shaped form, houses the internal strainer screen element through which the process fluid is directed and filtered during normal operation. Blue sealing elements are visible at the threaded ports in the image, indicating thread sealant or protective caps applied during storage and transit. The angled strainer leg also provides the access point for periodic cleaning and maintenance of the internal screen element without requiring full removal of the strainer body from the pipeline.
The Y configuration of the strainer body ensures that collected debris and particulate matter accumulate within the strainer leg under gravity and flow conditions, keeping the main flow path clear and maintaining efficient filtration performance throughout the service interval.
The BSP Y Strainer is available across eight nominal bore sizes from NB8 (1/4 inch) through to NB50 (2 inch) ensuring compatibility with a comprehensive range of standard BSP pipe sizes used across industrial, process, and general pipework installations.
