Heavy Duty Base Plate

The Heavy Duty Base Plate is a robust, cast stainless steel handrail post base fitting designed to anchor handrail posts securely to floor or structural surfaces in applications where elevated structural loads, heavy-duty use, or demanding installation environments require greater material strength and fixing capability than a standard flat plate base. As clearly shown in the image, the fitting presents a thick, circular cast body with a raised central boss into which the handrail post tube is inserted and secured, surrounded by a broad, flat outer flange with four evenly spaced fixing holes positioned around the perimeter. Most distinctively, the underside of the fitting features prominent cast reinforcing ribs or gussets radiating outward from the central boss to the outer flange face, clearly visible in the image and providing the significantly enhanced structural rigidity that defines this heavy-duty product over lighter flat-plate alternatives.

Supplied in Satin Finish and available in two tube outside diameter sizes, 38.1mm and 50.8mm, the heavy-duty base plate is designed to suit the two most commonly specified round handrail tube diameters in commercial and architectural handrail systems. The central boss aperture is sized to receive the corresponding tube outside diameter, with the post typically welded into the boss for a permanent, structurally integral connection before installation.

The four fixing holes around the outer flange perimeter accept bolts, anchor bolts, or chemical anchors for secure attachment to concrete, steel, or masonry substrates. The broad flange footprint distributes the structural load from the post bending, shear, and axial forces generated by handrail loading over a wide bearing area, reducing stress concentrations on the substrate and providing the structural safety margin required for public handrail and balustrade installations. The cast reinforcing ribs visible beneath the flange face transfer load from the post boss directly into the fixing points with maximum structural efficiency. The satin finish provides a consistent, professional appearance that complements the handrail system above.
